The Mexican National Team announced its list of called-up players to face Portugal and Belgium on the next FIFA Date, one of the last tests before the 2026 World Cup to be played in Mexico, the United States and Canada. Coach Javier Aguirre opted for a known base, although with some movements that have generated conversation among fans.
One of the most striking names is Álvaro Fidalgo, who receives his first call-up after completing his change of federation with FIFA. The midfielder will be looking to earn a place in “Vasco” Aguirre’s scheme, especially in view of the injury losses in the midfield.
Ochoa returns and Chivas dominates the rank and file

Another highlight among the Mexican National Team’s call-ups is the return of Guillermo Ochoa.
The goalkeeper returns to a call-up after more than six months of absence.
The experienced goalkeeper will compete for the starting line-up with Carlos Acevedo and Raúl Rangel, in a position that has undergone changes due to the injury of Luis Ángel Malagón.
As for the team’s core, Chivas once again has an important weight in the squad, contributing five players.
This reflects the club’s good momentum in Liga MX and the coaching staff’s confidence in their recent performance.
Sensitive losses shake El Tri

On the other hand, the list of called-up players of the Mexican National Team also presents relevant absences, mainly due to injuries.
Players such as Edson Álvarez, César Huerta, Gilberto Mora and Marcel Ruiz will not be available.
In addition to them, Santiago Giménez, who, despite being recovered, was not called up by decision of his club in order to regain competitive rhythm.
For Hispanic fans in the United States, these matches represent a key opportunity to evaluate El Tri’s level against high-caliber European teams.
This in a context prior to the World Cup to be played on U.S. soil.
