Michael Jordan, world basketball icon and six-time champion with the Chicago Bulls, is back in the NBA, but this time in a new role: special commentator for NBC Sports and the Peacock platform. The U.S. network confirmed his incorporation as part of its exclusive coverage of key games, starting in the 2025-2026 season.
“A legendary addition to our team,” NBC Sports stated in announcing that “Her Majesty” will be part of the analyst lineup for the NBA’s opening games, Sunday prime time, and the All-Star Game, events that will return to its signal after more than two decades. This move coincides with the NBA’s new broadcast rights contract, which from the 2025-2026 season will return the broadcast of high-profile games to NBC in a deal valued at several billion dollars.
More current than ever

At 62, Michael Jordan remains a central figure in sports.
His impact transcends generations, not only for his accomplishments – six championships, five MVP awards, six Finals MVPs, and a Defensive Player of the Year award – but for dominating an era in which he competed with legends such as Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Karl Malone.
Now, as an analyst, his voice will be an expert guide to understanding the present of the game he helped globalize in the 1990s.
Michael Jordan’s presence aims to revitalize public interest in the NBA.
It is a time when the league is facing challenges in terms of ratings and connecting with new audiences.
New era of the NBA

NBC’s return as the NBA’s television partner also marks a shift in the sports narrative.
The last time the network broadcast games was in 2002, and many fans still remember that coverage with nostalgia.
