Thai businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International and key figure within the Miss Universe Thailand organization, again offered a public apology after the controversial incident with Fatima Bosch, Mexico’s representative at Miss Universe 2025.

However, her statement generated controversy once again, since -as in her first apology- she did not directly mention the name of the Mexican contestant, limiting herself to offering “general” apologies to all the contestants of the contest.

During an official meeting prior to the coronation gala, which will take place on November 21 in Bangkok, Thailand, Nawat appeared in front of the cameras visibly moved and in tears, reiterating his regret for the altercation in which he called Fatima Bosch, representative of the state of Tabasco, a “fool”.

“I am human, everyone knows that the last few days have been very stressful,” said the businessman, his voice cracking.

In his message, Itsaragrisil argued that his reaction was the result of stress accumulated from the organization of the contest and that he did not intend to harm anyone.

“That’s behind me now. I think you have to understand that the pressure has been a lot and, sometimes, I can’t control it. But I had no intention of hurting or affecting any person,” he explained.

However, his attempt at an apology was again criticized, since, as in his first statement broadcast on social networks, he avoided mentioning Bosch directly, which many interpreted as a lack of personal responsibility for what happened.

“I sincerely regret what happened”: Nawat Itsaragrisil on incident with Miss Mexico

The Thai businessman offered these words in the presence of the 122 international delegates competing for the Miss Universe 2025 crown. In his message, he asked for understanding and respect towards the organization, while insisting that his words did not represent any kind of personal attack.

“I respect all of you. I sincerely regret what happened. I want to take this opportunity to apologize to the delegates if any of you felt uncomfortable with what happened. I am sorry,” she said.

Despite the conciliatory tone, the businessman’s gestures failed to dissipate the tension among the attendees or calm the indignation of the public, which continues to demand a direct and nominal apology to the Mexican representative, who was publicly humiliated during a sashing ceremony a few days earlier.

From the moment the video of the confrontation – in which Nawat is heard telling Bosch “I didn’t give you permission to speak” and ordering security personnel to remove her from the hall – went viral, social networks were flooded with messages of support for Fátima Bosch, turning the incident into one of the most talked-about topics at the international level.

Criticism towards Itsaragrisil came not only from pageant fans, but also from former beauty queens and public figures who condemned her behavior. Even Raul Rocha, president of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), confirmed that Nawat’s participation during the coronation will be limited as a corrective measure.

For his part, the Thai businessman asked social media users not to share false or misrepresented information, assuring that many phrases attributed to him were taken out of context or do not correspond to his actual statements.

The incident has cast a shadow over preparations for Miss Universe 2025, whose final gala is scheduled for November 21 in Bangkok. Although the organization seeks to keep the focus on the competition, the tensions caused by this episode have reignited debates about the treatment of contestants and transparency within international pageants.

Fatima Bosch, for her part, continues to focus on her participation and has received massive support from the Mexican public, which has highlighted her temperance and dignity in the face of a humiliating situation.

Meanwhile, Nawat Itsaragrisil’s second apology -although more emotional than the first- has not managed to close the controversy, as many followers and analysts consider that his words are still insufficient for not explicitly recognizing his fault towards the Mexican representative.

Here is the video of what Nawat said.
