The NBA officially confirmed a scoring error in the game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Washington Wizards, played on November 7, 2025 at Capital One Arena. Initially, the final score was 148-114, but the league acknowledged a miscue on a free throw that altered the official score to 148-115, although without changing the outcome of the game.

In its release, the NBA explained, “With 8:15 remaining in the second quarter, Tre Johnson’s (WAS) first free throw was incorrectly recorded as a miss, when in fact he made both. As a result, the final score has been changed to Cleveland 148, Washington 115.” Despite the adjustment, the Cavaliers’ dominance was absolute from start to finish of the game.

The NBA rarely acknowledges scoring errors, but this case generated conversation among fans, especially on social media, where fans demanded transparency.

While the modification does not change the outcome, it does demonstrate the statistical accuracy that the league seeks to maintain.

For Latino fans in the United States, this correction serves as a reminder of the enormous level of detail with which the NBA, one of the most popular leagues among Hispanic audiences, is followed.

The combination of technology, official review and open communication strengthens confidence in the sport.

What’s next
The Cavaliers will look to extend their good momentum against the Chicago Bulls, while the Wizards will try to get back on track against the Dallas Mavericks.
