The Baltimore Ravens’ Week 14 matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs ‘ Week 14 matchups against the Houston Texans will be vital to the contenders’ playoff hopes.

Sunday’s winner between the Ravens and Steelers, one of the fiercest rivalries in the American Football Conference (AFC), will take sole possession of the top spot in the North division. Both teams have the same record of six wins and six losses, so the winner will have a one-game lead with only four games left in the NFL campaign.

Baltimore is favored to play at home against coach Mike Tomlin’s team, which has accumulated a pair of consecutive losses.

Because the AFC North division is the least competitive of the four divisions, only the top finisher is projected to have a postseason berth.

Second place would not qualify for a ticket to the top seven.

On the same day, the Kansas City Chiefs are forced to beat the Houston Texans if they want to get into the wild card round of the playoffs because of the six-win, six-loss record that places them tenth in the AFC.

They are out of the top seven NFL conference qualifiers.

The Chiefs have had an up-and-down season that has them virtually out of contention to win the AFC West division for the tenth consecutive year, although they still have a shot at the postseason.

The mission will not be easy against the Texans, who come in with a better record, 7-5, which places them as the eighth best in the AFC, where they are in the shadow of the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Chargers, in positions seven, six and five, all with 8-4 records.

Sunday also features Jaguars-Colts and Packers-Bears games.

Week 14 of the NFL will kick off on Thursday with the visit of the Dallas Cowboys, ninth in the National Football Conference (NFC) at 6-5-1, to the Detroit Lions, eighth at 7-5.

A loss for anyone would be a major blow on their way to the playoffs.

The day’s activity will conclude on Monday with the Los Angeles Chargers, who must win to stay in the AFC postseason, facing the champion Philadelphia Eagles, who are in the hunt for the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams, first and second in the NFC.

To finish at the top of the National League, a position that entitles them to host all of their home games.
