The Mexican national soccer team, led by Javier “Vasco” Aguirre, announced a preliminary list of 35 players for the international friendlies it will play in June against Switzerland and Turkey. These matches will serve as preparation before defining the final group that will represent Mexico in the 2025 Gold Cup, to be held from June 14 to July 6 in the United States.
Among those called up, two highly anticipated names stand out: Guillermo Memo Ochoa, goalkeeper for Portugal’s AVS, and Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, striker for San Diego FC of the MLS. Both return to the national team after absences that generated great debate among fans and the sports media.
Make a difference

Memo Ochoa, with more than 140 international caps, returns to the squad after not being considered in the final stages of the Nations League.
At 39, he remains one of the most influential Mexican goalkeepers in recent history.
For his part, Chucky Lozano had not worn the “Tri” jersey since March 2024.
His good momentum in the MLS – with goals and assists at the start of the season – opened the doors to the national team once again.
These returns not only bring quality and leadership, but also key experience for a team in transition that is looking to consolidate with new young players.
Two key tests

The friendly matches will be played on U.S. soil.
Mexico will face Switzerland on June 7 in Salt Lake City, followed by Turkey on June 10 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
