Four years after the death of Vicente Fernández, his musical legacy continues to be active and in constant dialogue with new generations. The voice of the “Charro de Huentitán” will be heard again in a new posthumous recording project that already has a title, an estimated release date and an extensive list of collaborations.
This is a production that seeks to pay tribute to one of the most influential figures of regional Mexican music, reaffirming the validity of his work beyond his physical absence.
The album will be titled “Tributo al rey, con banda” (Tribute to the king, with band) and will have as its main focus the banda genre, one of the most popular styles within regional Mexican music and which, over the years, has also been in dialogue with the music of Vicente Fernandez.
The information was confirmed by his family and taken up by El Heraldo based on statements made in an interview with Latinus. According to the information, the posthumous album is scheduled to be released by the end of February 2026 and is expected to be a commemorative and collector’s item.
Vicente Fernández died on December 12, 2021 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, after being hospitalized for several days. The singer was hospitalized after suffering a fall at his ranch, which caused injuries to his cervical spine.
Subsequently, his health condition was complicated by Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a disease that affects the immune system, which resulted in multi-organ failure. Since then, his music has maintained a constant presence on digital platforms, tributes and special releases, allowing his repertoire to continue to reach new audiences.

Vicente Fernandez: A job that has been taken care of for several years
Vicente Fernández Jr., the interpreter’s eldest son, explained that this album is the result of a work that was developed over several years, with the objective of protecting and honoring his father’s artistic legacy.
In an interview with Latinus, he pointed out that it was a complex process, in which priority was given to respect for the original work and the quality of the final project. “It was a very complex job.
I am grateful to each of the people who are on this album and we are sure that it will be a collector’s item for all the fans of my father’s music,” he said.
Collaborations that bring generations together

The album will feature a total of 25 collaborations and seeks to reinterpret the work of Vicente Fernandez from the band format, with the participation of artists who had personal or professional closeness with him, as well as representative figures of the current regional Mexican music scene.
Confirmed performers include Christian Nodal, Ángela Aguilar, El Recodo, Ana Bárbara, Fuerza Regida, Edén Muñoz, Alejandro Fernández, Joss Favela, Julio Preciado and Jorge Medina.
Some of the participations have attracted attention due to the context of the music industry, such as the inclusion of Ángela Aguilar, despite rumors that have circulated about an alleged rivalry between her father, Pepe Aguilar, and Alejandro Fernández.
So far, there is no official confirmation that any conflict has influenced the project, so the collaboration remains as part of the album.
With “Tributo al rey, con banda”, the Fernandez family seeks to offer a representative and respectful material that reaffirms the importance of Vicente Fernandez as a central figure in Mexican music and preserves his legacy for future generations.
