In June 2025, after undergoing a panniculectomy, a surgery to remove excess skin and fat in the abdomen after losing more than 110 pounds, presenter Raul de Molina, known as “El Gordo,” suffered a serious complication.
Approximately ten days after his surgery, he collapsed at home due to internal bleeding caused by an anti-inflammatory medication that altered his coagulation. He lost a lot of blood through the surgical drains, which required an emergency transfusion and a second medical intervention to prevent sepsis. .

When Raul lost consciousness, it was his daughter Mia, 25, who found him passed out in the living room.
