Rosalía set a new record on Friday by becoming the highest-ranking Spanish artist in history on the UK Official Charts when she debuted in fourth place with her new album ‘Lux’.
The Catalan artist’s fourth studio album was one of the great contenders of the week to achieve the coveted number one, according to UK Official Charts in a statement sent to EFE, but finally fell to Taylor Swift and her album ‘The Life of A Showgirl’.
With this notorious fourth place, Rosalía also managed to break several records on a personal level in the British charts, since until now the highest position she had reached in the official ranking was the 42nd position with which she debuted her previous album, ‘Motomami’ (2022).

Similarly, the first single from ‘Lux’, ‘Berghain’, featuring Björk and Yves Tumor, managed to enter the Top 40 of the official UK Songs Chart at number 36, climbing fifteen positions from the previous week, and thus becoming the highest-ranked song of her career as a lead artist.
Last Monday, UK Official Charts previewed that ‘Lux’ was “one step away” from Rosalía achieving her first number one in the UK charts and posed “strong competition” for Swift, who was looking to regain her throne after it was snatched away the previous week by Florence + The Machine with her album ‘Everybody Scream!’.
In a strategic move, the American singer then announced an exclusive UK-only signed version of ‘The Life of A Showgirl’ to secure her top spot in the charts.
After Swift, reported Agencia EFE, the podium of the British charts was completed by Olivia Dean, with ‘The Art of Loving’ in second place and Lily Allen and her ‘West End Girl’ in third place, ahead of Rosalia.
