The Seattle Seahawks, who will play Super Bowl LX against the England Patriots on February 8, denied Friday the information that they are for sale.
“We do not comment on rumors or speculation and the team is not for sale. Right now our focus is on winning the Super Bowl,” the team wrote in a statement.
The origin of the rumors

The Seahawks responded to rumors from several media outlets earlier in the day that they would be put up for sale for a record $7 billion to $8 billion.
Since 2018, when owner Paul G. Allen passed away, the franchise passed to the control of his sister Jody.
Appointed as executor of the trust of Paul’s estate, which includes the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers.
Among Paul Allen’s wishes was that after his death the sales of both the Blazers and the Seahawks would be finalized.
Jody Allen’s write-up only discusses the NBA franchise that is indeed in this process.
From 194 million to billions

“Per Paul’s wishes, I have no news to share, only that we are focused on finalizing the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers in the coming months,” concluded the statement.
Paul Allen acquired the Seattle Seahawks in 1996 for $194 million.
A purchase that prevented the team from relocating to the state of California.
According to Sportico, a portal specialized in the sports industry, today the Seahawks are valued at $6.59 billion.
Which ranks them as the 14th most valuable franchise in the NFL.
It is estimated that in the event of a sale they could reach between US$7 billion and US$8 billion.
