Shooting at Grand Blanc church

According to official reports, the attacker crashed his car into the entrance of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, got out armed and started shooting at the attendees.

The shooting took place around 10:30 a.m. local time, when a religious service was taking place.

After the attack, the building started to catch fire.

The flames consumed part of the structure before firefighters were able to control them.

The exact causes of the fire are still under investigation.

The Grand Blanc Police Department confirmed that the assailant was shot at the scene and assured that there is no further active threat to the public.

Authorities asked the community to stay away from the site while investigations continue.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi reported that FBI agents are already on site working with local authorities.

For his part, FBI Director Kash Patel called the attack a “cowardly and criminal” act.

Victims and community impact

So far, the names of the victims and the attacker have not been released.

The religious community is in a state of shock and several people have expressed their grief on social networks, where videos of smoke coming out of the temple and people fleeing the place are also circulating.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer stated:

A pattern of concern

This shooting adds to a growing list of armed attacks in religious spaces in the United States.

For Hispanics who attend churches every week, these events generate fear and raise the need for stricter security measures in churches and community centers.

Based on records of mass shootings in 2025, this attack is one of the most serious of the year in the state.

The community of Grand Blanc, mostly white but with a growing Latino population, has been profoundly affected.

Security specialists recommend that attendees of churches and public spaces in the U.S. always keep in mind the “Run, Hide, Fight” protocol in case they are confronted by an active shooter.

It is also suggested that churches have evacuation plans, drills and active collaboration with the local police.

For many Hispanic families, the church is a place of encounter and refuge.

What happened in Michigan highlights the importance of protecting it.

This is a developing news item.

Investigations are ongoing.

The identity of the attacker, the motive behind the crime and the current condition of the wounded are expected to be confirmed in the coming hours.
