The premiere of the new season of the popular fiction series “Stranger Things” collapsed this Wednesday the Netflix live service, which remained down for a few minutes coinciding with the start of its screening.

According to specialized magazines, the service went down at 17.00 (U.S. Pacific Coast Time), just as the long-awaited fifth season of the series was premiering.

The connection was down for about three minutes, and after that, viewing continued to present problems for some users.

According to Variety, tens of thousands of people who logged on to watch the fantasy series were met with an image that read “Something went wrong. Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request. You’ll find plenty to explore on the home page.”

A Netflix spokesperson told Variety that “some users briefly experienced a problem with streaming on TV devices, but service was recovered for all accounts within five minutes.”

This is not the first time Netflix has been overwhelmed by “Stranger Things” traffic. In July 2022, Variety reported that the platform was unavailable for a brief period following the release of the final two episodes of the fourth season.

Users also experienced Netflix interruptions during the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight, one of the first events streamed live on the platform.

“Stranger Things” returns with the first batch of episodes of its final season, more than three years after the end of season four.

The new episodes will follow the kids of the town of Hawkins in their quest to find and kill the monstrous Vecna. The town is under military quarantine while the main character, Eleven (Eleven), hides from the authorities.

‘Stranger Things’ has also become the first Netflix series to rank four seasons in the Top 10 of the platform’s most-watched productions simultaneously, the entertainment company reported Tuesday.

The new milestone for the series created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer has come on the eve of the premiere of the first four episodes of its fifth and final season.

This fifth season will be offered in three parts: the first arrived on November 26, the second will be screened on December 25 and the last, with only the two-hour-long episode that will close the series, on December 31.

The final episode titled ‘The Rightside Up’ will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Netflix, the first time in history that an episode of a series will be shown on the big screen, reported Agencia EFE.
