‘Stranger Things’ became the first Netflix series to place four seasons in the Top 10 of the platform’s most-watched productions simultaneously, the entertainment company announced Tuesday.
The new milestone for the series created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer occurs on the eve of the premiere of the first four episodes of its fifth and final season, scheduled for November 26.
“This is the first time a series has had four previous seasons in the Top 10 at once before the premiere of a new season, reflecting the high viewer anticipation for the final season of this sci-fi/horror series set in the 1980s,” says the article posted on Netflix’s companion content website, Tudum.
‘Stranger Things’ has been a phenomenon and comes to a conclusion.
During the week of November 17-23, the first season of ‘Stranger Things’ was the third most-watched English-language series, with 4.1 million views; followed by the fourth season in fifth place with 3.3 million views; the second season ranked seventh, and the third season in ninth place, according to the report.
The fifth season of the series will be released in three parts: the first will arrive on the Netflix platform on November 26, the second on December 25 and the last, with only the episode – two hours long – with which it will close the series, on December 31.
The final episode titled ‘The Rightside Up’ will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Netflix, marking the first time in history that an episode of a series will be shown on the big screen.
The screenings will take place in more than 350 movie theaters in the United States and Canada starting December 31 at 17:00 local time, the same time it will be released on Netflix, and will remain in theaters until January 1, 2026, reported Agencia EFE.
