U.S. actress Sydney Sweeney could face legal consequences after a controversial incident during the filming of promotional material for her new lingerie line.
According to information published by the portal TMZ, the interpreter would have participated in an action considered as vandalism in the iconic Hollywood sign, one of the most emblematic monuments of the film industry.
The fact has generated a strong reaction both in social networks and local authorities, as the sign has strict access and preservation regulations due to its historical and cultural value.
Video that sparked Sydney Sweeney controversy

TMZ released a video showing Sweeney climbing the famous sign structure overnight, accompanied by a production crew documenting her every move. Once at the top, the actress and her crew placed a clothesline with several pieces of underwear on top of some of the letters, apparently as part of an advertising strategy.
The images quickly went viral, prompting criticism from users who questioned the safety of the act and respect for the site’s heritage. Although after the session most of the garments were removed, it was reported that some remained hanging for some time before being completely removed.
According to sources quoted by the U.S. media, the production had a permit to film in the vicinity of the sign; however, the permit did not include authorization to climb the sign, touch the structure or physically intervene in the monument. In addition, the document included specific restrictions on the use of the audiovisual material captured.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the body that manages and protects the sign, confirmed that the production company was previously notified that it could not film or broadcast images of the monument without express approval. “No permission was granted to do this, as required,” stated the president of the institution, stressing that the procedure failed to comply with the established guidelines.
Ongoing investigation and possible charges

Local authorities reported that an investigation has already been opened to clarify how the production team gained access to the restricted area and under what authorization the actress and her staff were allowed to be present in a controlled access site. According to initial reports, Sweeney could face charges related to vandalism and trespassing, depending on the results of the investigation.
“We are continuing to investigate how and under what authority Sweeney’s production accessed the Sign site,” sources close to the case said. Such misconduct can carry substantial financial penalties and even additional legal sanctions.
So far, neither the star of Euphoria nor her representation team have issued an official statement. Expectations are growing as to whether the actress will offer a public apology or clarify the circumstances of the incident, while the authorities continue to evaluate possible legal responsibilities.
