Police in Thailand are investigating the defamation lawsuit filed by the director of Miss Universe in the Asian country against the winner of this year’s edition, Mexican Fatima Bosch, the police station handling the case confirmed to EFE on Thursday.
The Watphrayakhrai police station, located south of Bangkok, confirmed receipt of the complaint, which was filed on November 12 on behalf of Thai businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil, national director of Miss Universe and owner of Miss Grand International (MGI), another beauty pageant.
“The case is still under investigation,” said a spokeswoman for the police station, who pointed out that the Mexican woman, who is visiting media outlets in the United States these days, has not yet been contacted by the Thai authorities.
In this regard, MGI assured EFE today that its lawyers “will take the legal process to its ultimate consequences,” a day after they published the lawsuit on Facebook, in view of the fact that Bosch continues to state that Nawat called her “dumb” during an argument last November 4 that went viral on social networks.

The Thai, in charge of organizing the pageant in which the Mexican was crowned, denies having insulted Bosch, and has taken legal action against her, while asking the media “to be cautious in reporting on this matter and to refrain from cooperating or amplifying the false accusations”.
“The first set of evidence has already been submitted and now the Police is collecting more. The case will be referred to the Attorney General’s Office because the offender resides abroad,” MGI said.
Although Nawat assures that he never called the young woman a fool during that activity – in which the 120 competitors of the edition participated and which was broadcast live on social networks – the then Miss Universe, the Danish Victoria Kjaer, also left the room when the discussion took place and said that the behavior of the Thai had been “very disrespectful”.

Bosch, for her part, denounced on her Instagram account that she has received violent and hateful messages after being crowned Miss Universe 2025, amid accusations of alleged fraud.
Her victory was accused of being fraudulent by the French-Lebanese pianist Omar Harfouch, who resigned from the jury, along with two other members, and threatened to take legal action against Miss Universe for alleged crimes such as “fraud, abuse of power, corruption, deceit, breach of contract, conflict of interest and moral and reputational damage”, reported Agencia EFE.
