Venezuela reported Friday on the arrival of four children who, it denounced, were “held” in the United States, and thanked the first lady of the North American country, Melania Trump, for having “made possible” this return.

On Telegram, the president of the government program Gran Misión Vuelta a la Patria, Camilla Fabri, said that four children of the “more than 60 still being held” who had been “separated from their families in open violation of international law and human rights” returned to the South American nation.

“These little warriors have faced a difficult experience, but now they are ready to reunite with their families and begin a new stage full of love and hope,” he said.

He also expressed his gratitude to Melania Trump “for having listened” to the request to intercede in these cases and for having “made it possible” that “they could be returned” to their mothers, although he rejected that the U.S. had sent only four children when, he said, nine were expected to arrive.

“I want to ask Melania Trump to continue, please, to continue sending us the children, to send us back all the children, please, may she continue interceding to make this miracle possible,” said the also deputy minister of International Communication.

A week ago, Venezuelan authorities reported that they received three of the minors they consider “kidnapped” by the U.S. government, which they accuse of having separated them from their parents who were deported from that country.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced on September 1 that more than 70 children from his country continued to be “kidnapped” by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The president said he has proposed to “rescue and free” all the minors, while accusing the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, of being “the operator of the kidnapping”.

In August, a group of Venezuelan mothers from Caracas requested an audience with the U.S. First Lady to ask for her intervention in the children’s case.

The women made the request in a statement broadcast by state-owned Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), in which they were accompanied by Fabri and held up signs with the phrase ‘MelaniaFreeOurChilden’, reported Agencia EFE.
