Four people were killed and two are missing after heavy rain fell Friday that affected parts of Arizona and caused severe flooding, forcing some residents to climb onto their roofs, according to media reports.

In the city of Globe, about 1,000 propane tanks were washed away from a distribution center, creating a serious hazardous materials problem in the downtown area of this old mining town in Gila County, ABC News reported.

“Historic Downtown Globe (Arizona) is in an unsafe situation, with buildings at risk, plus hazardous chemicals and debris, including propane tanks.”

“For your safety, please stay away from the area until further notice,” the community was alerted on social media.

It was also requested to avoid traffic in order not to interrupt the rescue work after the flood.

According to authorities, two of the victims were found in a vehicle where they drowned.

Another was found outside a car in downtown Globe, Arizona.

Emergency after victim found

A man who was reported missing on Friday, and identified as Ander Polanco, was found dead today, also outside his car, in Maricopa County, Arizona, as floodwaters receded, according to ABC.

The rest of the victims have not been identified nor has it been said whether they are all adults.

The Globe City Council held a meeting today.

He declared a state of emergency in the city, referring to the damage as “devastating,” but the extent is still unknown.

“This is something we could never imagine and here we are living it,” Councilman Freddy Rios told NBC News.
