The accident mobilized an extensive rescue operation.

According to emergency services in the area, three medical helicopters and multiple ground ambulances were deployed to transport the injured to various hospitals in the region.

In total, more than 40 passengers received medical attention, and at least two people required emergency surgery for exposed fractures at a Buffalo public hospital.

The rest of the injured had trauma, cuts and injuries of varying severity.

I-90, a high-traffic highway

Interstate 90, where the accident occurred, is one of the busiest highways in the northeastern United States.

It connects several key cities in New York State and is a frequent corridor for tour buses traveling between New York, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Canada.

Although authorities have indicated that there are no indications of mechanical problems with the bus, the investigation remains open.

State experts are reviewing the driver’s history, the condition of the vehicle and the circumstances of the maneuver that caused the rollover.

Impact on the immigrant community

The accident has shocked the local community and the embassies of the passengers’ countries of origin.

For many immigrants in the U.S., bus tours to destinations such as Niagara Falls are a regular activity, raising concerns about the safety of this type of transportation.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), passenger buses, including tour buses, tend to have lower accident rates than private vehicles.

However, when they do occur, accidents tend to have serious consequences due to the number of people on board.

The New York State Police announced that in the coming days it will release more details about the identity of the victims, the conditions of the passengers and the results of the tests performed on the driver.

Meanwhile, hospitals in and around Buffalo are keeping several of the injured under observation, some in critical condition.

Hasta el momento, una revisión preliminar descartó fallas mecánicas en la unidad o incapacidad médica del chofer
