A group of pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted a dinner for President Donald Trump in Washington D.C. Tuesday night, shouting “Free Palestine!” and making harsh accusations against him as the president entered the renowned Joe’s Seafood restaurant, Prime Steak & Stone Crab, located just blocks from the White House.

The events occurred around 8:00 p.m., when Trump, accompanied by several officials of his close circle, was going to the restaurant on a private outing not included in his official agenda.

Trump booed in DC

According to witnesses, as the president briefly greeted the venue staff upon his arrival, at least five women carrying Palestinian flags began shouting slogans such as “Trump is the Hitler of our day!” and “Free Palestine!”.

The moment was captured on video by passersby and activists, and quickly went viral on social networks, where it generated divided reactions.

Some users applauded the protest, while others called the act disrespectful.

Trump, visibly serious, avoided responding to the shouts and continued on his way inside the premises without stopping.

The Secret Service increased the security perimeter following the incident, although no arrests or physical altercations were reported.

The dinner as part of its political strategy

The president’s appearance at the restaurant was not accidental.

According to sources close to his team, Trump would have wanted to reinforce with this act his presence in the capital city and underline his message that under his administration “security has improved in Washington D.C.”, after having assumed federal control of certain functions in the city since the beginning of the year.

The White House has insisted that crime levels in the capital have dropped as a result of that intervention, although figures from the Metropolitan Police show a more moderate decrease than that promoted by the presidential team.

The booing also coincided with the president’s recent statements on the Middle East conflict.

Earlier Tuesday, Trump reacted to reports of an Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar.

Although he has maintained a supportive stance towards Israel, the president stated that he is “not happy” with the operation, as he was not notified in advance, and added that he will offer a more extensive pronouncement this Wednesday.

Incident at Joe’s Seafood, where Trump was heckled in DC, reignites tensions between Trump and pro-Palestinian activists.

Pro-Palestinians accuse him of unconditionally supporting the Israeli government, even in actions that have been condemned by international organizations.
