Puerto Rican actress and host Adamari López recently addressed rumors linking her romantically to two former Mexican presidents: Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Enrique Peña Nieto.

In her podcast Ada y Chiqui De Show, she explained that photographic and video extracts circulating in social networks -in which she allegedly appeared with the aforementioned former presidents- were generated by artificial intelligence (AI), and that she never had any relationship with any of them.

During the conversation, Adamari indicated that people from her circle sent her these publications. “I don’t know former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Nor do I know former President Enrique Peña Nieto. I have never shared with either of them,” she said. She added that she did not even coincide in any event or public space with either of them, and that she has no professional or personal ties that connect her with them.

The host explained that the original source of one of these manipulated videos was a clip she had uploaded from her closet at home, to promote her line of accessories on social networks.

According to Buzzy, the material was altered using lip sync techniques along with AI to give the impression that she was admitting to a romantic relationship with the former presidents.

Adamari pointed out that this practice is especially dangerous because -unlike traditional “gossip” in entertainment media- the use of AI allows for an appearance of veracity that can deceive many people. “Something very different, and more complicated, is that images are manipulated by AI, since many people think that the photos and videos they are seeing are true,” she explained.

The controversy arose as a result of publications on social networks that attributed to Adamari relationships with relevant political figures, which she categorically rejects.

In her podcast, she emphasized that her career has been in entertainment and television, and that she has never been involved in Mexican politics.

By means of this clarification, Adamari seeks to stop the dissemination of false information that may affect her public and professional image. Likewise, she calls on the audience to question the veracity of visual content that may have been artificially generated. She asked for seriousness and responsibility in the use of technologies that alter reality: a line that, she said, “should not be crossed”.
