White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said Thursday that the fact that President Donald Trump called a journalist “piggy” shows that the president is “honest” and “transparent” with the media.
“The president is very frank and honest with everyone in this room. You’ve seen it for yourselves. You’ve experienced it yourselves,” Leavitt assured a press conference after a reporter asked him what Trump meant when he called a female reporter that.
Justify insult as “transparency

The president called Bloomberg White House correspondent Catherine Lucey a “piggy” and shushed her when she asked him about the Jeffrey Epstein child molester case on Air Force One last Friday.
“The president gets frustrated with journalists when they lie about him, when they spread false news about him and his administration.”
“But he is also the most transparent president in history and, as you all know, he gives everyone in this room unprecedented access,” the spokeswoman said.
Leavitt praised Trump as the most transparent president and blasted his predecessor, Joe Biden:
“I think the president being frank, open and honest with you, rather than hiding behind your back, is, frankly, much more respectful than what you saw in the last administration,” he said.
“Everyone in this room should appreciate the candor and openness that President Trump brings to them on an almost daily basis,” he concluded.
Trump’s new attack on the press criticized

The publication of the video in which Trump is seen insulting the reporter sparked criticism from the journalistic profession.
This is one more of the president’s attacks against journalists, especially against women.
On Tuesday, she called a professional who also asked her about the Epstein documents a “lousy reporter.”
