Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs star and boyfriend of pop star Taylor Swift, acknowledged Sunday that he is having second thoughts about retiring or returning to play another season with his team.
“I have a lot of affection for this team and the people in Kansas City. So I’ll spend some time with them, attend the farewell meetings tomorrow and reach out to my family to clear the air. Last year it was easier, I knew I wanted to try, now I don’t know,” said the 36-year-old veteran after his team’s 14-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in the final game of the NFL season.

This season will be only the third time in Travis Kelce’s 12 seasons with the Chiefs that he will not be in the playoffs, the first time, 2013, he missed them due to injury; the second, in 2014, as now, Kansas City did not qualify.
“Obviously we didn’t do that well as a team, but I felt well prepared,” says Kelce.
“I came into the season with all the illusion of enjoying the ‘rock and roll,’ but the ball just wasn’t with us; now it’s time to take a break and think about what’s next,” he detailed.
Despite his franchise’s poor season, which ended with six wins and 10 losses, Travis Kelce had outstanding numbers.
He surpassed the 13,000 yards per carry mark, reaching 13,002, a feat he shares only with two other historic Chiefs tight ends, Tony Gonzalez, who totaled 15,126, and Jason Witten, 13,046.
The Westlake, Ohio native is already a legend for the Chiefs, with whom he has played in five of the past six Super Bowls, helping them to three victories.
Since being selected in the third round of the 2013 Draft by Kansas City, he has been selected 11 times to the Pro Bowl and has received four All-Pro designations.
In addition to being part of the 2010 NFL All-Decade Team, he accumulated several league records.
Among those records are the most receptions in the playoffs, with 174; most touchdown receptions in the postseason for a tight end, with 20; most receiving yards for a player at his position, with 2,039; among others.
Travis Kelce, who is already considered one of the best tight ends in NFL history, saw his popularity rise at the end of 2023, when he unveiled his romantic relationship with pop star Taylor Swift, to whom he became engaged last August.
