Colombian singer Karol G expressed her desire to be able to speak out more freely about the actions that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been carrying out in the country. However, she noted that she has been warned that doing so could lead to retaliation.
“People say, ‘You better not do it’… Why, because if you say something, you might get a call the next day, ‘Hey, we’re taking away your visa.’ You become bait for some people who want to show their power,” said Carolina Giraldo Navarro, known by her stage name Karol G, in an interview with Playboy magazine.
The singer, who will make history this Sunday as the first Latina singer to headline the Coachella Festival in Indio, California, admitted that if she were to say the popular phrase “ICE Out,” her team would “kill her,” but that she would still be willing to do it.

“To be honest, it’s something that goes beyond the limits of what I should do to protect myself. But at the end of the day, what is my role if I’m in this situation?” the ‘Bichota’ performer said.
But he also questioned the real impact something like this could have. “What real impact does saying ‘ICE Out’ have compared to something else that might have a real impact on my community?” he said.
In the interview, Karol G also talked about her decision to pose in the adult magazine.
“Why do I want to do this? Because I want to (…) Because I grew up inspired by the beauty of the women in the magazine, and now I have the opportunity to be that beautiful, sexy mommy in the magazine. Why not?” she said.
However, she confessed that the only person she asked for an opinion on whether she should do it or not was her friend and fellow countrywoman, actress Sofia Vergara.
“Mijita, with that body, why not? When you get to this age, you say to yourself: ‘Fuck, why didn’t I pose that time? I should have posed more in a thong!’ (…) ‘Just one thing: don’t show your pussy,'” she recalled, reported Agencia EFE.
