He’s looking for playing time abroad

Everything indicates that Javier “Chicharito” Hernández is living his last days as a Chivas de Guadalajara player. His contract with the club ends in December 2025 and, according to the red and white board of directors, he will not be offered a renewal due to his low participation during the Apertura tournament.

The 37-year-old striker has played just four official matches and 104 minutes without scoring goals under Gabriel Milito, who prioritized a younger squad. Hernández, the Mexican national team’s all-time leading scorer, returned to Chivas in January with the intention of closing his career at home. However, injuries and internal competition limited his role in the team.

MLS or USL? The future could be the USA.

According to reports from ESPN and Récord, Chicharito Hernández is considering continuing his career in the United States, where he still has an important market among the Mexican community.

Although no specific club has been confirmed, two options are on the table:

MLS, where he played from 2020 to 2023 with the LA Galaxy, scoring more than 40 goals.

The USL Championship, considered the second division of U.S. soccer, has attracted several former Liga MX players in recent months.

A source close to the player indicated that Chicharito Hernández is looking for a competitive but less physically demanding environment.

Ideal for staying active and eventually transitioning to off-court work.

One of the most rumored rumors is that Eduardo “Chofis” López, who left Pachuca, could also emigrate to the USL along with Chicharito Hernández.

Both men coincided at Chivas and maintain a good personal relationship, which fuels the rumors of a possible reunion at a U.S. team.

The idea of seeing two former Rebaño Sagrado stars playing in the United States has sparked interest in the Hispanic community.

Especially in California and Texas, where Mexican soccer has a large fan base.
