Katherine Short, one of three children of Martin Short, star of the hit sitcom ‘Only Murders in the Building,’ died yesterday at age 42 in what authorities are investigating as a possible suicide.
“It is with deep regret that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss and requests privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought to the world,” the actor’s rep said Tuesday in a statement accessed by TMZ.
Katherine Short may have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police sources told the trade magazine.
Martin Short and the tragedy of his daughter
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the home of Short’s daughter, located in the affluent Hollywood Hills neighborhood, on Monday afternoon, where she was found dead.
Katherine was the eldest daughter of Short and Nancy Dolman, Martin’s wife of 30 years, who died in 2010 of ovarian cancer.
She practiced as a social worker in the city of Los Angeles after receiving her bachelor’s degree from New York University and her master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California (USC) several years later, reported Agencia EFE.
