Alvaro Fidalgo, 28, became eligible to play for the Mexican National Team last February.
Fidalgo was trained in the Real Madrid youth academy and during his time in Mexico he became an idol of the club América, with whom he won three league titles.
During yesterday’s session, Alexis Vega, a player from champion Toluca, who has just recovered from a knee injury, worked with his teammates.
Javier Aguirre’s men trained at the Mexican Soccer Federation‘s High Performance Center.

El Tri will face Portugal this Saturday in the reopening of the Azteca Stadium.
The Portugal national team, coached by Spain’s Roberto Martinez, will be without Cristiano Ronaldo, its star player, due to some muscular discomfort.
After the match against Portugal, the Mexican National Team, including Alvaro Fidalgo, will travel to the United States to face Belgium this Tuesday at Soldier Field in Chicago (Illinois).

Challenges and expectations

The Mexican National Team, with the probable inclusion of Álvaro Fidalgo, will face the 2026 World Cup with great expectations as one of the host countries.
This guarantees automatic qualification, but also increases the pressure to play a historic role.
El Tri will seek to overcome the barrier of the round of 16, an instance in which it has been eliminated in multiple editions.
With a mix of young talent and experienced players, the team will have to consolidate its style under the current technical direction.
Furthermore, playing at home could be a key advantage, as long as they are able to respond to the demands of the fans.
