The world chessboard is moving at breakneck speed. This Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video message that left everyone’s mouth agape: he confirmed that Donald Trump sees it feasible to achieve war aims through a historic deal with Iran.

After a telephone call with the US president, Netanyahu assured that his “friend” Trump believes that it is time to take advantage of the military advances to sit down and negotiate a pact that protects the vital interests of the region. However, the Israeli leader was blunt: diplomacy does not mean that the bombs will stop falling.

5-day truce… but with conditions

The news comes just after Trump announced a five-day pause in attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure to give the talks some air.

In this political “chess game”, the White House special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have reportedly already had contact with a high-level Iranian politician (who, they clarify, is not Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei).

“We will protect our vital interests under any circumstances,” Netanyahu warned.

He thus made it clear that, even if Trump wants to negotiate, Israel remains focused on dismantling Tehran’s missile and nuclear program, in addition to continuing to strike at Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Israeli leader assured: “Today I spoke with our friend President (Donald) Trump. President (Donald) Trump believes that there is an opportunity to build on the great achievements we have made with the U.S. military to achieve the objectives of the war through the agreement, an agreement that will protect our vital interests.”

However, he warned that his attacks, which began almost a month ago against Iran and Lebanon, will continue.

“At the same time, we continue to attack Iran and Lebanon. We are dismantling the missile program and the nuclear program, and we continue to inflict serious damage on Hezbollah,” he added.

These are Netanyahu’s first words after Trump, his closest ally, announced Monday that he has begun negotiations with Iran to end the conflict and ordered a five-day postponement of attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure to make room for these talks.

Iran says “there is no one at home”.

For its part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that they have received “little messages” from U.S. intermediaries seeking peace, but they assure that, as of this moment, no official talks are underway.

It seems that the Iranian regime is playing hardball while Israel’s defense forces continue to stalk its borders.

It’s day 24 of the conflict and the world is holding its breath: will Trump get the “deal of the century” with Iran or are we facing a strategic pause before the final storm?

Do you think Trump will succeed in convincing Netanyahu to stop the attacks or will Israel go it alone until Iran’s nuclear program is ended? We want to know what you think!
