The ghost of Jeffrey Epstein once again shook the halls of Congress on Friday. In a tense appearance, former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi admitted to the House Oversight Committee that the Justice Department made “editing errors” in releasing documents in the case.

What to many is an admission of selective censorship, to her was simply a failure in the publication process.

Transparency under fire: Bondi’s defense

Despite acknowledging the failures, Bondi did not take a step back.

He assured that, under President Donald Trump’s administration, the commitment to accountability was total.

“Justice has been done,” he stated flatly, despite the fact that the handling of the evidence against Epstein’s associates remains an open wound for the public and, above all, for the victims.

Bondi insisted that the Justice Department was always willing to prosecute any evidence of criminal activity, although critics point out that the “edits” casually protected high-profile names.

The cry of the victims and a troubled past

Before Bondi took the microphone, the atmosphere was already heated.

Several survivors from Epstein’s circle testified before the congressmen, expressing that their only hope is to get “truth and some answers” that the censored documents have so far denied them.

This is not the first time Bondi has broken out in a cold sweat before Congress.

In February of this year, a disastrous hearing where he was accused of lack of sensitivity to victims and withholding information was, according to experts, the final nail in the coffin that led to his removal as Attorney General.

The appearance was also marked by the recent state of health of the ex-official.

Following her departure from the Justice Department in April, it was revealed that Bondi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, a personal battle she is fighting as she attempts to clean up her political legacy in one of the darkest cases in recent U.S. history.
