Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 43-point, 137-130 victory at the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark in attendance as a special photographer.
Doncic took another step towards the title of top scorer of this regular season with his 14th game above 40 points. The Slovenian has 11 straight games scoring 30 points or more. He already had 21 after the first quarter, 28 at halftime and 39 entering the final period. To that he added 6 rebounds and 7 assists in 37 minutes on the court.
Doncic threatens LeBron’s record

Luka Doncic accumulated 16 games with more than 40 points with the Lakers.
He is 2 away from matching the mark of LeBron James, who tonight contributed 23 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
“We have affinity, we fight and that’s nothing new,” Doncic assured after the game that ended their 6-game road trip away from Los Angeles, finished with 5 wins and 1 loss.
She shone under the gaze of Caitlin Clark, the WNBA’s most iconic player and the driving force behind the tremendous growth of the women’s basketball league.
The duel continued in the photographers’ area at the foot of the track with camera and vest.
The Lakers put behind them a loss to the Detroit Pistons in their previous game, which ended their streak of nine straight wins.
They are third in the West with a 47-26 record and have a 2-game lead over the fourth-place Denver Nuggets.
The San Antonio Spurs have a 54-18 record and are second behind the OKC Thunder (57-15).

The Lakers led by as many as 29 points in the third period and had a 20-point lead in the first period.
The game seemed already won when Bronny James, son of LeBron, signed a big dunk in the third quarter.
But the Lakers dropped their concentration in the fourth period.
The Pacers, a team that made the Finals last year and is mired in the East this season, fought to the end.
The Pacers had just snapped a 16-game losing streak and are determined to fight to the end despite being out of goals.
They scored 45 points in the final quarter and pulled within 10 points with 1.40 to play when LeBron James distractedly had the ball stolen by Obi Toppin just steps from his own hoop.
Lakers resist Pacers’ backlash

The Lakers, who were 31-0 when their lead reached 14 points, were able to defend the margin and take an important win on the road.
Austin Reaves contributed 25 points in the win and Jaxon Hayes recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Pacers, Pascal Siakam led a group of eight players over 10 points.
