LAFC (Los Angeles FC), stung by their elimination against Toluca in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, were thrashed 1-4 at home by Houston Dynamo on Sunday in their return to MLS competition.
LAFC, which has won just one of its last six U.S. league games, succumbed to a Jack McGlynn brace and goals from Poland’s Mateusz Bogusz and Brazil’s Guilherme. The momentary 1-2 goal scored by Salvadoran Nathan Ordaz was of little use.

For oblivion

While LAFC has established itself as one of the most competitive and media-friendly teams in MLS since its debut in 2018, it has also had nights to forget.
With resounding defeats that marked its recent history.
One of the most memorable drubbings occurred in 2019, when LAFC lost 5-1 to Atlanta United.
It was a game where the Angelina defense was completely overmatched.
That same year, the team also suffered a tough 3-0 defeat against Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference final, being eliminated despite being favorites.
In 2020, the Seattle Sounders once again became a nightmare for LAFC after defeating them 3-1 in the playoffs.
Later in 2021, Sporting Kansas City thrashed the Californian side 4-0 in one of their worst defensive performances of the season.
Another painful loss came in 2023, when LAFC lost 4-0 to the Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup semifinal.
The result generated strong criticism among fans and analysts.
Now, the recent 1-4 defeat against Houston Dynamo revives those ghosts and increases the pressure on a team accustomed to competing for titles (Filed as: LAFC was beaten by Houston).
