What looked like a doomed race from the first lap ended up turning into one of the most memorable comebacks of the season for Denny Hamlin, as the veteran Joe Gibbs Racing driver overcame a penalty at the start of the race and ended up conquering the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville, proving once again why he remains one of the most dangerous competitors in the championship.

The day started in the worst possible way for Hamlin. After winning the pole position, he was penalized for overtaking at the start, an infraction that forced him to serve a drive-through and fall to the back of the field as soon as the race began. For many drivers, such a penalty usually means the end of any aspirations of victory. Hamlin, however, had other plans.

As the race progressed, the driver of the number 11 car made up positions thanks to a combination of strategy, experience and a consistent competitive pace.

The test was far from smooth.

Nashville offered an intense spectacle marked by 11 yellow flags, multiple incidents and a local record 31 lead changes between different drivers.

Reflecting how close the fight was at the front of the pack.

While Denny Hamlin advanced from the bottom of the field in this race at Nashville, Christopher Bell established himself as one of the leading contenders for the win.

The driver of the number 20 car showed speed for much of the race and seemed to be in control in the decisive moments.

When it seemed that Bell had the victory within reach, a small error in the defense of his position completely changed the outcome.

The presence of Chase Briscoe in the fight altered the dynamic between the leaders and forced Bell to take additional risks.

On the last lap, the driver of the number 20 car lost trajectory slightly while trying to protect the lead.

Denny Hamlin did not miss the opportunity.

With the experience that characterizes him, he found the necessary space to complete the overtaking.

And crossing the finish line in first place with a mere 0.115-second lead.
