A powerful line of severe storms struck the northern Alabama region, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among the hardest hit locations was the mobile home (trailer) park in Muscle Shoals, where three EF1-rated tornadoes touched down nearly simultaneously, causing significant damage to homes, trees and structures.
The meteorological phenomenon, which moved rapidly across the state, uprooted dozens of trees, many of which fell on the mobile homes in the park. One of these trees completely pierced the Ramirez family’s house, destroying its structure and leaving its occupants in a critical situation.
The Ramírez family: one story that represents many

Among those affected is Gladys Ramirez, a mother of three daughters and an active member of the local community.
Their home was one of the most severely damaged by the fall of a large tree, which pierced the structure of their traila at the time the family was inside.
His eldest daughter, Abigail, was injured during the impact and was rushed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where she received specialized medical care.
Although their condition is stable, the family is now facing the total loss of their home and basic belongings.
A community that responds with solidarity

Close friends of Gladys have launched a fundraising campaign through GoFundMe, with the goal of raising financial support for:
Cover Abigail’s medical expenses
Repair or replace damaged housing
Purchase essential items for girls, such as clothing, school supplies and food.
Help the family find safe temporary housing while their long-term situation is being resolved.
The call is clear: any donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference for this family that today needs the support of their community.

Contacting local churches or community centers that are channeling aid to affected families.
A storm season that is just beginning

The April 2025 tornadoes have once again highlighted the vulnerability of Latino communities living in mobile homes, where severe storm damage tends to be most devastating.
Many of these residents lack adequate insurance or support networks to enable them to recover quickly.
Gladys, like many other Latina mothers, has worked hard for years to raise her daughters.
Today it needs our solidarity.
If you would like to contribute or learn more about the campaign to help the Ramirez family, you can visit their GoFundMe page directly or contact the organizers through social media and community groups in Alabama.
