During the third date of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, held on Saturday, April 12, at Bristol Motor Speedway, there was a big crash involving drivers Sheldon Creed and Brennan Poole. The incident occurred in Turn 4 of the oval, when Dean Thompson positioned himself just behind Creed. At that moment, Sheldon Creed lost control and spun violently, impacting backwards into the wall.
The situation became critical because Sheldon Creed’s car was stuck in the middle of the track. Poole, who was coming at high speed, could not avoid it and rammed directly into it, causing a massive collision. The impact completely dislodged the left front of Creed’s car, while Poole’s vehicle suffered a total loss of the right sidewall, including the rear tire.
Pilots without serious injuries

Fortunately, both drivers were treated at the circuit’s medical center and released without major injuries.
Poole told NBC Sports, “It took my breath away. Sheldon also told me he couldn’t breathe at first.”
Sheldon Creed, meanwhile, said Poole simply could not see it:
Todo pasa muy rápido. No hay mucho tiempo para esquivar un auto cruzado como el mío

Both drivers were out of the competition: Brennan Poole finished 36th and Shledon Creed 37th.
The incident forced an extended yellow flag while the vehicles were removed and the track was checked.
Larson takes the win

Despite Sheldon Creed and Brennan Poole’s accident, the race continued.
Kyle Larson took first place, followed by Carson Kvapil, Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith and Brandon Jones.
With this result, Allgaier takes the lead in the 2025 Xfinity Series, with a minimal advantage over Sam Mayer and Jesse Love.
NASCAR reinforces protocols

The Bristol crash has reignited the debate about short-track safety.
Visibility and room for maneuver are limited.
NASCAR has already announced that it will evaluate new measures to minimize risks on these types of tracks, which are very common during the regular season.
