Mexican wrestling is living a historic moment in 2025. The acquisition of Triple A (AAA) by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has unleashed a wave of unprecedented changes, both for the wrestlers and for the show itself.

This merger not only promises to bring Mexican talent to new international audiences, but also to dignify the working conditions of those who are part of this spectacular sport.

Global opportunity

Following the official purchase of AAA in March 2025, WWE began a phase of restructuring and evaluation of its new cast.

As a result, at least eight emblematic figures of Mexican wrestling have already signed formal contracts with WWE.

Among them are names such as Alberto del Río (now reprising his character “El Patrón”), Hijo del Vikingo and Hijo de Dr. Wagner.

Also, La Parka, La Hiedra, Lady Flammer, Lady Maravilla and Niño Hamburguesa.

These contracts do not necessarily mean an immediate addition to WWE’s television programming, such as RAW or SmackDown.

But they do guarantee financial stability, international projection and a direct relationship with the U.S. company’s operating standards.

Some wrestlers will continue to fight in AAA events, while others may appear in joint special events.

One of the most important points for the fighters is the formalization of their contracts.

Until recently, many Mexican talents operated without social security, without fixed contracts and with non-transparent payments.

WWE’s arrival imposes a new standard: competitive salaries, access to health insurance, retirement programs and professional training.

In the words of one of the company’s legal representatives, “the contracts now signed by AAA wrestlers are equal in structure and benefits to those of any talent in WWE, although they are administered within the framework of the Mexican operation”.

Shared calendar

The first major joint event between AAA and WWE, titled “NXT vs AAA: Worlds Collide,” is scheduled for June 7, 2025 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

This show will be a starting point for future collaborations in cities with a high Hispanic presence, such as Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

The intention is not only to internationalize Mexican wrestling, but also to bring it closer to the Latino community in the United States, which has historically been one of the most loyal to the sport.

For many wrestlers, this alliance represents the possibility of having a long, profitable and globally recognized career.

For U.S. Hispanic fans, it means being able to see their idols on bigger stages, with better productions and more media coverage.

This strategic move not only strengthens WWE as a world leader in sports entertainment, but also revalues the tradition of Mexican wrestling, projecting it to the world without losing its essence.
