Colombian singer Maluma highlighted over the weekend during a concert in San Salvador that his country, Colombia, has “a lot” to “learn” from El Salvador, according to international media reports on Monday.

“I am very happy about the situation that the country, El Salvador, is going through. Congratulations, since I arrived the energy of the place feels beautiful, it feels incredible, the streets are clean, the people are loving and caring,” said the singer, according to videos posted on X, during his concert on Saturday night at the National Stadium Jorge ‘Magico’ Gonzalez.

Maluma added that “as a Colombian I have to tell you that we have a lot to learn from our sister country, El Salvador”.

Maluma offered in the capital San Salvador a concert as part of his tour ‘+Pretty +Dirty World Tour’.

For more than three years, El Salvador has been under a state of emergency – which suspends constitutional guarantees – to combat gangs and to which the government of President Nayib Bukele attributes the drop in homicides in the country, which for years was considered one of the most dangerous in the world.

Although this measure, implemented by the government and which has become the only one against the gangs, is accepted by a large part of the Salvadoran population and by the governments of some countries, it is accused of violating rights, according to international organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
