Mexican authorities captured on Thursday four of the 23 fugitives from the Ixtapa prison in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco (west), during a violent day on Sunday following a military operation against the Jalisco Cartel – New Generation (CJNG) that resulted in the death of its leader Rubén Nemesio Oseguera, alias El Mencho.
In a press release, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection(SSPC) informed that after intelligence and investigation work, it managed to arrest four escapees, who on Sunday were part of the 23 inmates who fled after the forced entry of two vehicles to the state penitentiary center.
Coordinated operation in Jalisco leads to the recapture of four inmates

The authorities prepared search forms and issued inter-agency and migratory alerts.
Coordination with state authorities was strengthened.
This made it possible to track routes, points of interest and possible hiding places for the evaded persons.
“As a result of these coordinated efforts, in the town of El Colorado, municipality of Puerto Vallarta, four of the evaded persons were located and arrested,” said the agency.
The fugitives acted in the midst of a violent day with blockades and attacks in different areas of Jalisco and other states, attributed by federal authorities to a criminal reaction after the operation against ‘El Mencho’.
