Costa Rica’s Alonso Martinez scored a spectacular goal on Tuesday in New York City’s 1-0 win over Charlotte to give the New York City side the lead in the first round of the MLS East playoffs.
The Tico, a striker who scored 18 goals in the regular season, scored the decisive goal in the 34th minute, when he controlled the ball on the right flank and dribbled past three opponents to enter the box and blast past the goalkeeper.
