Mexican soccer’s América will seek to confirm its hierarchy as one of the two winningest teams in the history of the CONCACAF Champions Cup this Wednesday against Olimpia of Honduras.

The Eagles, coached by Brazilian André Jardine, will host Uruguayan coach Eduardo Espinel’s team in the second leg of the first round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The team from the Mexican capital, which has won seven times in this competition, the highest number of times along with Cruz Azul, will be looking for a victory.

This after last week’s first leg match against the Central Americans by 1-2.

América looks favored thanks to its roster abundant in South American stars.

Uruguayan national team players Sebastián Cáceres, the leader of the defense, and Brian Rodríguez, the offensive reference in the starting 11.

Colombian Cristian Borja, from the wing, is another of América’s offensive weapons, thanks to his speed and physical deployment to get forward.

In addition to Chile’s Víctor Dávila and Colombia’s Raúl Zúñiga.

Olimpia will attempt a comeback with the help of its leaders, goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar, Uruguayan center back Facundo Queiroz and midfielders Jorge Álvarez, in charge of recovery, and Edwin Rodríguez, the driving force behind the offensive play.

Another obstacle the Honduran team will have to deal with is the 2,240 meters above sea level in Mexico City.

Throughout history, Olimpia has won the CONCACAF Champions Cup twice, in 1972 and 1988.
