Japanese actress Anna Sawai (‘Shogun’) will play Yoko Ono and British actress Aimee Lou Wood (‘Sex Education’) will play George Harrison’s first wife in the ambitious film saga about the band The Beatles directed by Sam Mendes, Deadline reported Friday.
Both actresses join British performer Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, the first wife of legendary drummer Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan); and Saoirse Ronan, who will play Paul McCartney’s first wife, a character to be played by the acclaimed Paul Mescal.
Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn and Harris Dickinson will play George Harrison and John Lennon, respectively, in the new biographical films being prepared by director Sam Mendes about Liverpool’s most famous musicians.

The story will be told from the perspective of each of its members, in an attempt to capture their unlikely journey from Liverpool to the center of global culture.
Mendes is preparing a total of four independent films about the famous British band that revolutionized the music scene in the 1960s, all of which will be released in theaters in April 2028.
This is the first feature-length narrative film to obtain the musical rights to The Beatles’ extensive catalog of hits, ranging from ‘Strawberry Fields’ to ‘Let It Be’ and ‘I Am the Walrus’ and ‘Yellow Submarine’, among others, reported Agencia EFE.
