Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Arcángel presented this Thursday his new album, ‘La 8va Maravilla’ composed of 18 tracks, which he released to coincide with the twentieth anniversary of his musical career, at the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián, on the stage of the Plaza de Armas, in Old San Juan.
“I am yours today, tomorrow and forever and I will be yours in another life, in the second, in the third and in the fourth. The eighth wonder is in the house. Puerto Rico give me a ‘fucking’ bulla,” said Austin Agustín Santos, the artist’s first name, in front of the hundreds of people who packed the plaza, expectant for the “listening party” of the album.
The urban artist appeared on stage singing one of his greatest hits like ‘Me acostumbré’, the song he released with Bad Bunny in 2017, and then he played ‘La ocasión’, the song he has with De La Ghetto, Ozuna, Anuel AA, Dj Luian and Mambo Kingz.
After making the whole square vibrate with his best known songs, Arcángel played his new production with several collaborations, in the song ‘Di Amén’ with Daddy Yankee, ‘Lluvia’ with Ricky Martin or ‘Chula’ with Beéle.
In the center of the esplanade where the reguetonero performed in front of his fans, a golden statue of the artist was erected, wearing sunglasses and a watch, looking at the sky with his hands in prayer position.
Arcángel and the meaning of his new album
The title of the album refers to ‘The Wonder’, a nickname he adopted himself and also represents that he is the eighth wonder of the world, after making a journey through the seven wonders of the modern world.
After finishing his show at the Plaza de Armas, Arcángel made a surprise appearance on stage at the Plaza del Quinto Centenario to applause from the audience, and was accompanied by his son Austin, Lyanno, Dei V, Luar la L, Chencho Corleone and DJ Luian.
Recently, Arcángel offered a party to celebrate his 20 years of musical career and the release of this album, which was attended by Bad Bunny, De La Ghetto, Tainy, DJ Luian, DJ Nelson, Naldo, producers Luny Tunes, Mario VI and Jowell, among others.
The urban artist released this album after thousands of fans followed his visit to the seven wonders last year on social networks. In an 18-day trip he visited Chichen Itza (Mexico), Machu Picchu (Peru), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil), Colosseum of Rome (Italy), Petra (Jordan), Taj Mahal (India) and ended at the Great Wall of China.
Arcángel released the EP, ‘Papi Arca’ in December 2024, his most recent musical work since ‘Sentimiento, Elegancia y Maldad’, composed of nine songs, with collaborations with Eladio Carrión, Randy, Sech, YOVNGCHIMI and Dei V, consolidating the artist as a trendsetter and a generational bridge in Latin music, reported Agencia EFE.
