The Toronto Blue Jays bounced back Tuesday from an 18-inning loss a few hours earlier with a 2-4 win over the Dodgers in Los Angeles in Game 4 of the World Series, which is now tied at 2-2.

Game 5 will take place this Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, but no matter what happens, the Blue Jays have secured the right to take the best-of-seven series on Canadian soil.

The Canadian offense finally found the formula to crack the pitches to starter Shohei Ohtani.

He handed him his first setback as a pitcher in a World Series.

Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer and was the main force for the Blue Jays.

With his first home run in a World Series, Guerrero Jr. set a new mark for the Blue Jays: 7 home runs in the postseason.

The Dodgers took the lead in the second inning on a single by Puerto Rico’s Kiké Hernández off Azulejos starter Shane Bieber and Max Muncy scored from third base.

The Blue Jays responded with two runs in the top of the third.

After Nathan Lukes’ single, Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cracked a sweeper thrown by Ohtani, and took the ball into the left field bleachers.

Decisive rally unleashed in the seventh

The Blue Jays mounted a four-run rally in the seventh inning, which was the key to the game’s outcome.

Daulton Varsho and Ernie Clement singled and doubled.

This precipitated Ohtani’s withdrawal from the mound and the entrance of Mexican Anthony Banda, who allowed a run-scoring single by Venezuelan Andrés Giménez.

The Blue Jays added one more run through Clement.

The fifth score for John Schneider’s team was scored by Giménez thanks to an RBI by Bo Bichette after a pitch from reliever Blake Treinen.

Guerrero Jr. singled home Addison Barger to extend the visitors’ lead to 1-6.

The home team cut into the lead in the ninth inning through Dominican Teoscar Hernández.

Bieber (1-0), the 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner, worked 5.1 innings. He allowed four hits and one run, struck out three and picked up the win for the Blue Jays.

Ohtani (0-1), who in Monday’s mile-long game set several postseason marks by reaching bases all nine times he took the bat, was hit with six hits and four scores in six episodes, in which he struck out six and took the loss.
