The Mexican National Team received key news for its preparation process: Richard Ledezma and Brian Gutiérrez will now be able to officially represent El Tri, after FIFA confirmed their eligibility, according to a statement issued by the Mexican Soccer Federation(FMF).

This resolution allows both players to be available for the preparation matches against Panama and Bolivia, two games that are part of Mexico’s work schedule on its way to the next international challenges.

The case of Ledezma and Gutiérrez required a formal proceeding because both have dual nationality.

An increasingly common situation in modern soccer, especially among players trained or born outside of Mexico but with Mexican roots.

In addition, the most important point was that both players had already had previous participation with U.S. national teams.

This required the so-called change of association with FIFA.

This procedure is essential for a player who has already represented another federation in certain categories to be able to change national teams.

According to the FMF, the world soccer governing body has already completed its review and gave the green light for both players to wear the Mexican National Team jersey without restrictions.

With this confirmation, Ledezma and Gutiérrez are now eligible to play friendly matches with the Mexican National Team.

Starting with the matches against Panama and Bolivia, which will serve as part of the coaching staff’s analysis to evaluate variants and try out new pieces.

Although these are preparation games, they represent an important opportunity because they allow the coach to observe their adaptation to Mexico’s style, their understanding with the group and their performance against international rivals.

Beyond these games, the addition of both players opens up an interesting scenario for the future.

The coaching staff of the Mexican National Team can consider them as real alternatives in the medium and long term.

Whether for upcoming official tournaments or as part of the process leading to the World Cup.

This type of movement also reflects a clear trend in teams such as Mexico:

Broaden the radar to players developing in the United States, who can bring different experience, competitive training and a complementary tactical vision.
