In the framework of one of the most symbolic dates for Mexicans, the Day of the Dead, the singer-songwriter from Tlaxcala Carlos Rivera presented his most recent album, an EP entitled “Vida…”, in his homeland, Huamantla, Tlaxcala.
The launch was surrounded by a mystical and deeply emotional atmosphere, in perfect harmony with the essence of the project: an ode to existence, memory and love, elements that are intertwined with the symbolism of this traditional Mexican holiday.
The event took place at Casa Huamantla, owned by the artist himself, which was specially decorated for the occasion with the colors, aromas and textures of the Day of the Dead.
Marigold flowers, candles, papel picado and traditional elements filled the space, creating an atmosphere that evoked both nostalgia and celebration of life.
While the public was preparing for the presentation, the traditional catrinas parade was taking place in the nearby streets of Huamantla, accompanied by the emblematic handmade rugs made from natural materials such as fruits, vegetables, corn leaves and palms, a unique artistic expression that distinguishes this region of Tlaxcala.
Rivera, visibly moved, shared this special moment with his fans, accompanied by his wife Cynthia Rodriguez, family and close friends. The artist performed some of the songs from the new material in an acoustic format, backed by two guitarists and Mariachi Gama 1000, with whom he offered an intimate and deeply meaningful evening.
“Vida…”: Carlos Rivera’s tribute to love, family and roots

The EP “Vida…” is made up of six songs that, according to Rivera himself, reflect different perspectives on existence, mourning and celebration. The songs deal with mourning, heartbreak, detachment and loss, but also love, hope and connection with family.
The interpreter of Regrésame mi corazón clarified that this is not an album dedicated to death, but a celebration of life in all its forms: “It is a great pride to make the first presentation of an album of mine in my homeland. It is an accumulation of songs that touch the heart and that came from the heart. After 15 years I am back to make a mariachi album, fusing other elements and taking this music to other countries. It is not an album that celebrates death, but life,” said the artist.
With this project, Carlos Rivera revisits the mariachi sound, a genre that marked his childhood and that he explores again with a contemporary twist. “Vida…” represents his return to his roots, combining Mexican tradition with modern arrangements and introspective lyrics.
The six songs that make up the EP are:
-
“Long Life”
-
“Not For Less”
-
“Souls”
-
“Someone.”
-
“Calavera”
-
“Cuento de Nunca Acabar”, a special duet with Ana Bárbara, in which both artists join their voices to pay tribute to the emotions that arise when remembering those who are no longer with us.
Rivera himself confessed that, in composing these songs, he thought of his childhood and the moments shared at family parties at his grandmother’s house, fondly remembering loved ones who have passed away.
“When I was writing, all I could think about was my homeland and those holidays with my family. Some of them are no longer here, and all I could imagine was how to honor them,” the performer explained.
“Vida…” is much more than an album: it is a deeply personal and spiritual project, in which Carlos Rivera combines music with the emotions that define Mexican culture. Since its release, the artist has reiterated that his intention is to convey a message of love, gratitude and continuity, especially on a date that symbolizes the link between the past and the present.
With this EP, Rivera not only reaffirms his identity as an ambassador of Mexican music, but also his commitment to his roots and the values that formed him. Amidst marigold flowers, guitars and memories, the singer from Tlaxcala returned to his origins to remind the world that, in Mexico, talking about death is another way of celebrating life.
