Australian actress Cate Blanchett will reprise her role as Viking warrior Valka in the live-action sequel to How to Train Your Dragon’ (How to Train Your Dragon), which is scheduled to land on the big screen on June 11, 2027, The Hollywood Reporter reported Thursday.

The two-time Oscar winner joins Mason Thames (Hiccup), Nico Parker (Astrid Hofferson), Gerard Butler (Stoick the Vast), Julian Dennison (Fishlegs Ingerman), Gabriel Howell (Snotlout Jorgenson), Bronwyn James (Ruffnut Thorston) and Harry Trevaldwyn (Tuffnut Thorston) in the sequel, based on the books by Cressida Cowell.
Adapting the second installment of the animated version, which was released in 2014, the film continues the adventures of Hiccup, the dragon-friendly Viking who opened his village to the possibilities of coexisting with the fire-breathing flying creatures.
Cate Blanchett plays Valka, Hiccup’s long-lost mother and wife of Viking leader Stoick the Vast.

The first live-action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ movie was released in June 2025 and grossed US$636 million at the worldwide box office, reported Agencia EFE.
