In a high-voltage match with controversy, Cruz Azul defeated Tigres 1-0 at the Olímpico Universitario Stadium and qualified for the final of the Concacaf Champions Cup 2025, with a 2-1 aggregate score. The Celeste will face Vancouver Whitecaps next Sunday, June 1, also at the Olímpico, after finishing as the best team in the tournament.
The only goal of the match was scored by Ángel Sepúlveda, who, at minute 77, converted a penalty kick awarded after a VAR review for a handball by Marcelo Flores inside the area. The Mexican player shot powerfully, beating Nahuel Guzmán, who guessed the direction but was unable to deflect the shot.
