Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee, who now goes by the stage name DY, has confirmed his official return to the music industry at Billboard Latin Music Week 2025, to be held October 20-24 in Miami Beach.

This return marks a milestone in the career of the artist, considered the pioneer of reggaeton and one of the most influential Latin musicians of the last three decades.

As reported by Billboard, DY will participate in a panel entitled “The Power of Reinvention,” a session described as intimate and revealing, where he will reflect on his career, the evolution of his art and his preparation for a new musical chapter.

It will be the first time the artist will appear at a public event of this magnitude since he announced his retirement in 2022.

Billboard’s Director of Latin Content, Leila Cobo, highlighted the relevance of this comeback: “Her path of reinvention is not only inspiring, but profoundly relevant to the new generation of artists and fans alike”.

In March 2022, Daddy Yankee – whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez – surprised the world by announcing his retirement from the stage after more than 30 years of career. He gave his last concert in December 2023, closing an era marked by global hits such as Gasolina, Lo que pasó, pasó, Dura and Con calma.

After that farewell, the singer decided to dedicate his life to faith and began to perform Christian music, showing a more intimate and spiritual side that surprised his followers.

However, in July 2025, he announced his return to reggaeton with the release of a new single titled “Sonríele”. He also officially announced the change of his artistic name to DY, a decision linked to his personal life: he sought to prevent his ex-wife from receiving royalties, following their divorce in February of the same year, after almost three decades of marriage and two children together.

Billboard emphasized that this return is not only musical, but also symbolic, as it represents the beginning of a “new era defined by reinvention, narrative and global ambition”. The artist arrives at this stage renewed, with the intention of maintaining his influence in urban music and opening paths for new generations, while redefining his legacy.

Billboard Latin Music Week is considered the most important gathering of the Spanish-language music industry. This 2025, the event will be held at the Fillmore Miami Beach, a historic venue for the internationalization of Latin artists since the 1990s.

In addition to DY, a diverse line-up is expected to include Pablo Alboran, Silvana Estrada, Anuel AA, Guaynaa, Ela Taubert, Carin Leon, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Goyo, Grupo 5, Laura Pausini, Luis R. Conriquez, Myke Towers, Neton Vega, Ozuna and Venesti, among others.
