Daddy Yankee’s legal representatives and his ex-wife, Mireddys González, reached an agreement so that the famous urban artist can use his professional trademarks, including his artistic name and pseudonyms, such as the acronym DY, which he has been using lately after announcing his musical retirement.

This is the result of a joint motion released this Friday and filed yesterday before Judge María Antongiorgi Jordán, in the Federal Court of Hato Rey (San Juan), in which the lawyers notified that “the parties have reached a total and definitive agreement on all the claims presented in this action”.

Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, the singer’s first name, filed a new lawsuit this week in Federal Court.

He alleged that his ex-wife sought to prevent him from using certain trademarks, including Daddy Yankee and DY.

In response, the singer and his legal team requested that an injunction be issued prohibiting such action.

To which the judge requested that the defendant respond within 48 hours to the claim made by the artist and his lawyers.

“The parties have agreed that this honorable court shall enter judgment incorporating the terms of said agreement.”

“And that said judgment shall be final and not subject to appeal,” the document details.

It argues that the court retains “jurisdiction to enforce the terms of the agreement, if necessary”.

The covenant states that Gonzalez “agrees, covenants and undertakes that, in the future, either directly or indirectly, he will not take any action intended to limit, affect or prevent Ramon Ayala Rodriguez from using the Daddy Yankee or DY trademarks”.

In addition, the agreement indicates that Gonzalez is committed:

“Not to disparage, dilute or adversely affect the covered marks, nor to register or attempt to register any mark that may be considered substantially similar or that may cause a likelihood of confusion.”

This settlement is the latest chapter in Daddy Yankee and his ex-wife’s legal and business dispute.

Since August 14, federal judge Silvia Carreño ordered Gonzalez to turn over electronic devices containing emails and files that were originally deleted from the El Cartel Records corporation.

Daddy Yankee sued his ex-wife and ex-sister-in-law, Ayeisha Gonzalez.

This is for allegedly destroying files of their corporations El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, Inc.

The dispute over the corporations began after the Gonzalez sisters made transfers totaling $100 million from the corporate bank accounts to personal accounts of each party in December 2024.

This without Daddy Yankee’s knowledge or authorization.

The couple’s separation was confirmed on those dates.

And the divorce became official last February 19, after almost 30 years of marriage and two children in common.
