Mexican driver Daniel Suarez has made a strategic career move by signing with Spire Motorsports for the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season. In the official announcement made this Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Suarez was introduced as the new driver of the No. 7 car, replacing Justin Haley, who will leave the team at the close of the current season.

Daniel Suárez, 33, comes to the team with an outstanding track record: two Cup Series victories, 74 top-10 finishes in 314 races, and the distinction of being the first Latin American driver (born in Mexico) to win in NASCAR’s top category, winning at Sonoma Raceway in 2022. In his new role, he will drive the No. 7 Chevrolet ZL1 for Spire, with primary backing from sponsor Freeway Insurance, which will be the team’s “anchor partner” beginning with the 2026 Daytona 500.

Why is this change important?

Spire Motorsports has shown remarkable growth in recent years.

With the arrival of Daniel Suárez, the company seeks to make a decisive competitive leap.

As team co-owner Jeff Dickerson noted, “His track record speaks for itself.”

For Daniel Suarez, this change also represents a new beginning after five seasons with Trackhouse Racing, where he has been a mainstay since 2021.

He now aims to lead a team on the rise and reinforce his presence as a Latino figure in U.S. motorsports.

We look forward to him bringing a new perspective

The 2026 campaign will officially kick off with the Daytona 500 on February 15, 2026.

It will be Daniel Suarez’s first appearance at the helm of the No. 7 for Spire.

It will be key to watch how he adapts to the team, how he develops chemistry with the new technical environment, and how the Hispanic community follows his progress.

Daniel Suarez not only takes a strategic step in his career:

It sends a powerful message to U.S. Hispanic racing that Latino talent has a place among NASCAR’s elite.

For those who follow the sport from the Hispanic community, this transition marks an opportunity to further connect with a driver who represents their roots and aspirations.
