Joe Jonas, a member of the Jonas Brothers, recently shared his thoughts on the new album by his ex-girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift.

During an interview for Esquire magazine, Joe stated that he has listened to “a little bit” of The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s twelfth album, and stated that he finds it “catchy”. The interview was released on October 21, 2025 by People magazine.

The relationship between Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift happened in the spring/summer of 2008, when Swift was 19 and Jonas was 20. It was a brief (about three months) but high-impact media stint, in part because Swift later sang about the breakup on her album Fearless.

The press and fans have linked several Swift tracks – such as “Forever & Always” and “Better Than Revenge” – to her relationship with Jonas, which has kept that chapter in pop’s collective memory.

In the interview with Esquire, Joe Jonas said, “I’ve heard some stuff… I think she’s obviously the top artist at the moment, and I think she’s good. Everybody has their opinion, but from what I’ve heard, she’s got some catchy tunes.”

Referring to the album The Life of a Showgirl – which Taylor released on October 3, 2025 through Republic Records – Joe made it clear that his stance was respectful, yet cautious.

Importantly, Jonah avoided delving into personal references or directly alluding to his romantic past with Swift, opting for a general comment that acknowledged her talent without engaging in speculation.

Although the breakup between Swift and Jonas was brief, it left a lasting imprint on Taylor’s musical narrative. She herself commented on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that the relationship ended via a 25-second phone call when she was 18.

For his part, Joe Jonas has said that Swift’s account was inaccurate and that he never voluntarily ended the conversation, noting that the call “only lasts as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk.”

Despite those turbulent beginnings, both artists have gone through stages of professional and personal maturation, and in recent years have shown a cordial relationship. For example, Taylor opened her New York home to Joe Jonas’ ex-wife, Sophie Turner, during their divorce proceedings in 2024.

Joe Jonas’ comment brings an interesting outside look at Taylor Swift’s release. That an ex-boyfriend celebrates – albeit mildly – her new work suggests that personal distance does not necessarily translate into artistic friction. The Life of a Showgirl album is being analyzed as much for its musical merits as for its echoes of her personal life and lyrical themes. This intervention by Jonas broadens the public conversation about the album, inviting fans and critics alike to consider its value beyond sensationalism.

In short, Joe Jonas remains respectful and complimentary: he acknowledges Taylor Swift’s success, describes some tunes as “catchy” and avoids any further controversy. This reflects a mature and professional tone, which is certainly striking in the context of their previous links.
