Luka Doncic, leader of the Los Angeles Lakers, expressed his appreciation to his franchise and the NBA for recognizing that the special Crypto.com Arena rink for the Cup needed to be modified because it was slippery.
Doncic had recently complained about the quality of the yellow court used by the Lakers in the Los Angeles derby against the Clippers, and his team used a traditional court on Friday in the purple and gold’s win over the Dallas Mavericks.

“I appreciate that the Lakers and the league did us a favor. I talked about that, so I thank them for changing the track, and allowing us to get healthy.”

In last Tuesday’s win over the Clippers, the Lakers competed on a bright yellow court that Doncic found slippery.
That didn’t stop him from dominating the derby with 43 points, 32 of them scored in a spectacular first half.

The Lakers’ NBA Cup court is expected to be used again in the quarterfinals, with a modified version to ensure player safety.
The Lakers, who won the Cup in its inaugural edition in 2023, will play the San Antonio Spurs in the quarterfinals on December 10.
